A message from Ingalls President Kari Wilkinson
To My Shipbuilding Family,
To My Shipbuilding Family,
Shipbuilders, you’re invited to join us for the ship christening of Harrisburg (LPD 30) on Saturday, January 11, at 10 a.m.
I am proud to announce that Jennifer Childs has been promoted to vice president of Quality & Engineering, beginning January 6, 2025. She will be responsible for the management and oversight of our quality program as well as all ship design, engineering, integrated logistics support and planning yard engineering efforts.
Ingalls successfully undocked USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000), the lead ship of the U.S. Navy’s Zumwalt-class of guided missile destroyers, taking the ship one step closer to testing and returning to the U.S. Navy fleet.
The holiday season is upon us! We hope you have a restful break that allows you to re-energize and return to work in 2025 ready to build the nation’s greatest ships.
Building ships is challenging work that requires input and collaboration across the shipyard. Our commitment to a Zero Compromise culture is essential to ensure that each ship we build meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
Beginning January 6, parking passes will be required for all vehicles parked in the designated parking spaces for expectant mothers.

Ingalls and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Job Corps program, partnered to host a two-day recruiting event to offer students a direct career path to a job in the shipbuilding industry. The event attracted students from across 20 states who interviewed for positions in key trades, including welding, electrical and machining. By the event's conclusion, 68 students received job offers to begin their careers at HII.
After 28 years of dedicated service, Ingalls Shipbuilding president, Kari Wilkinson reflected on her time shared with both shipbuilders and community partners during a recent Gulf Coast Business Council meeting.
It takes a village to keep the workflow of the shipyard steady. From assisting with maintenance and management to supporting events, bay foremen serve as the Swiss Army knives of the shipyard.
With more than 60 entries submitted for the 2024 Holiday Card Contest, we are proud to announce the artist selected for this year’s holiday card is Casey Jane Webster!
At Ingalls, every weld tells a story. But for structural welder Robert Lee, one weld will always stand out and connect him to a ship, a family and a legacy of service.
The Ingalls Apprentice School is one of the key ways Ingalls invests in the future of shipbuilding. In honor of National Apprenticeship Week, which was November 17-23, we sat down with electrical apprentice Brandon House and pipe insulator apprentice Gatric Thompson. Both are currently progressing through the program, and their passion, drive and commitment are a testament to the strength of our workforce. Here's a look at their journeys and what inspires them to build the future of our industry.
Civility is essential to our commitment to a Zero Compromise environment. It embodies our core values and shapes how we collaborate effectively and support one another. When workplace conflicts or tensions arise, it is each of our responsibility to uphold ethical behavior and show respect, communicating openly and thoughtfully with one another.
This holiday season, we’re coming together to make a meaningful impact through our annual food drive, a key part of the Four Ways to Spread Holiday Cheer initiative. With local food pantries critically low on supplies, your donations will directly support families in need.
The holiday season can bring added pressures both at work and at home. As dedicated shipbuilders, you face unique challenges—but it’s crucial to prioritize your mental health, too.
All Ingalls employees are invited to take a confidential Voluntary Employee Self-Identification Survey now through December 20. The two-question survey, facilitated through Gallup, will invite all shipbuilders inform the company whether the employee believes he or she is an individual with a disability and status as a protected veteran.
End the year by enhancing both your professional and personal growth. Join us for a Lunch & Learn on emotional intelligence, where all shipbuilders are invited to gain valuable insights and strengthen their skills.
Congratulations to all of the shipbuilders who reached long service milestones between the months of September and October.
For 86 years, Ingalls shipbuilders have been building and supporting ships all while representing a dedication to purpose.
