Ingalls Shipbuilding serves as the regional sponsor of Extra Table’s March of the Mayors, a continued commitment to food security in our communities. Join us through the month of February to collect food, volunteer and fight food insecurity. As we continue to be inspired by the success of the “Extra Full” event, we hope that shipbuilders see their contributions and volunteer efforts as vital pieces to our community and to its success in combatting hunger.
Recently, Ingalls led the effort alongside local leaders and community members to pack more than 10,000 meal kits of red beans and rice. These kits, designed to serve four people a hot meal, will be distributed to food pantries and soup kitchens across South Mississippi, ensuring access to nutritious meals for those in need.
Ingalls awarded $95,600 in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) grants on February 7 to 22 local schools and educational organizations, reinforcing the company’s commitment to fostering innovation and critical thinking among youth. The grants will support a variety of hands-on projects, classroom technology enhancements, and STEM-focused curriculum.

The Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence (GCCFN) is seeking Volunteer Ambassadors to help support and advocate for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and survivors of homicide victims. AASA is partnering with Feeding the Gulf Coast to host a MLK Day Food Drive to distribute fresh produce, canned goods, frozen meats, and dry goods to those in need within our community.

As we close out the year, we’re inviting all shipbuilders to join us in making a difference. This year’s Four Ways to Spread Holiday Cheer initiative has highlighted how we can come together to bring joy to children, families, and veterans in our community.
Through a collaborative effort, Ingalls Shipbuilding partnered with Aramark and Pepsi to make a meaningful contribution to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Jackson County (BGCJC). Funds raised from sales at Ingalls directly supported this donation, helping to further the organization’s mission to provide safe spaces, educational opportunities, and enriching programs for local youth.
On December 5, 2024, at Pelican Landing in Moss Point, Ingalls Shipbuilding proudly participated in the Military Service Rally, an event dedicated to honoring military service members, veterans, and their families. At our booth, we showcased Ingalls' commitment to the military and highlighted our involvement in the community.
On November 20th and 21st, the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Convention Center buzzed with excitement as thousands of 8th graders from across the region arrived for Pathways to Possibilities (P2P). This unique event brings career exploration to life, giving students the opportunity to engage directly with professionals and envision their futures.

On Thursday, November 14, Ingalls Shipbuilding welcomed eight Mayors Youth Council programs from across the Mississippi Gulf Coast for a day of learning, networking, and inspiration. The event brought together 92 students and 14 council advisors from the cities of Long Beach, Gulfport, D’Iberville, Ocean Springs, Gautier, Pascagoula, Moss Point, and Lucedale.

This year, the Gulf Coast Community Foundation celebrates 35 years of service to the community. Julie Gresham, vice president, Chief Counsel, serves as chairman of the organization’s board. The Gulf Coast Community Foundation promotes charitable giving by managing millions of dollars for numerous scholarships and funds that directly impact the lives of Gulf Coast residents. This year, a new fund in honor of long-time GCCF champion Roger Wilder was established to support causes that provide programming for children in our community.

The season of giving reminds us that the need for community support and care for one another is year-round. Daily, the United Way of Jackson, George and Greene Counties provides resources for people in our community who need a little help to make ends meet. Often, families are faced with unforeseeable circumstances that result in a need for shelter, food and protection. United Way is there with the resources and information needed to keep a difficult moment from turning into a catastrophic life event.
