When the weather is hot, keep a cool mind. Starting Thursday, September 7th members of the Ingalls Safety team, along with Culture Connectors,will hand out icy treats around the shipyard. Cold bottles of water are also available throughout the week in bins located throughout the yard.
With some of the hottest days of summer upon us, Ingalls wants to remind shipbuilders that multiple factors can contribute to heat stress.
Temperatures are expected to continue rising over the next month. Be prepared for a heat stress emergency by knowing what signs to look for, what to do if you or someone else are in danger, and how to prevent heat stress.
With summer officially underway this week, temperatures will continue to reach over 100-degrees daily, bringing an even higher risk of heat stress. It is imperative shipbuilders hydrate and replenish their electrolytes in order to avoid heat-related illness.

Remember to drink plenty of fluids today. It is important to stay hydrated throughout the day, regardless of whether you feel thirsty. You may not feel thirsty until you have lost about 3 pints (1.5 liters) of water.
