Ingalls Supports the United Way

The United Way for Jackson and George Counties serves the needs of the communities where most of our workforce lives. The people helped through United Way are your neighbors, your friends, your coworkers and yourselves.

United Way Champions:

Kari Wilkinson, president of Ingalls Shipbuilding and vice president of Huntington Ingalls Industries:

“I believe the United Way is important because of all the things they do to help make our community stronger. When you look at the work of the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Homes of Grace or Boys and Girls Clubs, those are all things that are working to make our communities better. Our shipbuilders support United Way because our shipyard is really a representation of the community. When you look at that relationship and the fact United Way is working to build a sense of community and a support mechanism, I think it’s important that we support those efforts.”

Terrence Nellum, chief steward of the Boilermakers Union and United Way for Jackson and George Counties Board Member since 2018:

“The reason I give to United Way is it just feels good to contribute to an organization catering to people that are in need. It’s important to support United Way in my local community because United Way creates solutions that build a stronger community. I believe it’s important for shipbuilders to contribute to the United Way because they can make a change. Families can have better opportunities, and everyone can meet basic life needs.”

Ronald Hammler, procurement rep and Old Hickory Donor:

“I support the United Way because I have a very strong compassion for people who are in need. My parents taught us to show love and compassion for everyone. My wife and I, along with fellow church members, visit and support Home Of Grace. We have seen how their great facility helps men and women in need, thanks in part to United Way.”
