Updated guidance on face masks

Published on 05/17/2021

Dear Ingalls Shipbuilding employees:

Consistent with HII’s recent announcement, Ingalls will no longer ask that fully vaccinated employees wear face masks when they are unable to socially distance, unless they live in a state or locale that requires it. This aligns with updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the States of Mississippi and Louisiana.

This is promising news and a sign that COVID-19 safety protocols and lifestyle changes have paid real dividends, and we can all look forward to resuming our normal routines. We understand some people may be uncomfortable going mask free, and employees who are fully vaccinated can continue to wear masks if they desire.

Unvaccinated employees and those going through the vaccination process are still encouraged to wear a face covering while at work when they are unable to maintain social distance.

In order to track the vaccination status of employees, HII is requiring all employees to self-report your vaccination status in UPoint if you received a COVID-19 vaccine in the community by logging into your UPoint account from www.hiibenefits.com. Once logged in, click the “COVID-19 Self-Reporting” banner at the top of your homepage, read the instructions and fill out the brief questionnaire.  You do not need to self-report on UPoint if you received your vaccination onsite at Ingalls Shipbuilding through Singing River Health System.

If you are an employee who needs to self-report and need assistance in that process, you may contact the Ingalls Medical team at 228-935-1922 between the hours of 6:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday starting on Monday May 24, 2021.  When you call, please have the following information ready (a) your name, (b) your badge number, (c) vaccine type (Pfizer, Moderna, etc.), (d) date of 1st vaccine, and (e) date of 2nd vaccine.

While getting the COVID-19 vaccine is not mandatory, we strongly encourage it. As a reminder, employees can receive the vaccine onsite at the dates and times Ingalls provides through Singing River Health System, at QuadMed, or at other sites in the community.

Your perseverance and flexibility have been evident during this pandemic and have long been strengths of our workforce. Your patience and continued dedication is appreciated as we continue to navigate away from COVID-19.
