COVID-19 Message on Response to Governor’s Executive Orders

Published on 07/14/2020

Please be advised that in response to the Governor of Mississippi’s executive order issued July 10, 2020, Ingalls Shipbuilding will adhere to the following changes effective July 13, 2020:

  • Additional screening practices
  • Face covering requirements for employees that cannot maintain 6 feet of distance and your job allows for face coverings
  • Reminder that employees are to inform medical staff if they think they may have COVID symptoms

Additional signage containing the following questions, will be posted at each entry point where temperatures are taken.

  1.       Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
  2.       Are you experiencing a cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat?
  3.       Have you had a fever in the last 48 hours?
  4.       Have you had a new loss of taste or smell?
  5.       Have you had vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours?

If you can answer yes to any of these questions, you will need to notify onsite medical staff immediately, at which point you will be screened by a member of our medical team. By entering the facility, you confirm you do not have any symptoms addressed in the questions.

Step 1:  Maintain six-feet of distance between yourself and fellow shipbuilders, follow signs and remove hardhats for forehead scanning.

Step 2:  Those with temperatures of 100.4 or lower and have not answered Yes to any question may enter.

Step 3:  If your temperature is 100.5 or higher, or if you have answered Yes to any of the questions, you will be directed to a nearby station for a second screening.

Step 4:  Those who pass the secondary screening will be issued a fast pass to bypass the initial screening lines and go straight to the turnstiles or entrance doors.

Step 5:  Those who fail the secondary screening will be offered a COVID-19 test at the Singing River Health System screening trailer, then directed to home quarantine as necessary.

Note:  This additional step of answering questions applies to all vehicle occupants entering the yard.
