Just as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. pushed society to never give up on the dream, the African American Shipbuilders Association (AASA) employee resource group echoed the same message at their annual MLK Jr. celebration on January 20.

Through the choir’s moving performance and the powerful words of wisdom from shipbuilder panelists, this event reminded everyone of Dr. King’s unwavering commitment to unity and equality.

“The MLK panel discussion was an insightful and impactful event with a diverse perspective from our fellow shipmates honoring Dr. King's legacy in our everyday lives,” said AASA board chair Jakayla Wright, training representative, Human Resources & Administration. “Our consistent efforts will lead to greatness. Justice, equality and love are the key ingredients to lasting results.”

Thank you to the panelists who shared their incredible insights at the event:

  • Fatina Brave, Director of Talent Acquisition, Human Resources & Administration

  • Oliver Walley, Pipe Superintendent, Operations

  • Andrew Woods, Outside Machinist Foreman, Operations
