We build ships for a reason.
Sailors and Marines will take the ships we build into places most of us will never go. They will count on those ships to work when it matters most.
Building them takes all of us.
That means welders, fitters, electricians, pipefitters, riggers, painters and every other shipbuilder doing their part. It also means being here when your team is counting on you.
That's what Here for the Mission is about.
Be here. Be ready. Build what matters.
When someone doesn't show up, the work doesn't go away. Somebody else has to pick it up. Your crew has to adjust. Your teammates have to carry more of the load. And the ship still has to move.
This isn't about being sick. It isn't about emergencies or approved time away from work. Life happens.
This is about the days when you have a choice.
On those days, showing up matters.
Being dependable is part of being a good shipbuilder. Your crew should be able to count on you, just like you expect to count on them.
We talk a lot about quality, safety, schedule and getting ships to sea. None of that happens without people here doing the work.
So know your job. Take care of your crew. Show up ready to work. And take pride in what you put your name on.
Every craft matters. Every shift matters. Every shipbuilder matters.
Your team is counting on you.
The warfighter is counting on all of us.
