What does it take to become a good leader? Over 100 shipbuilders showed up to “Becoming a Good Leader: Real Advice. Real Experience.” to find out!

The latest professional development session provided honest conversations with panelists Tom Casey, Operations director; Denise Quave, Quality & Engineering director, and Logan Killen Quality & Engineering manager

Each leader shared honest lessons and advice, such as building a daily list of wins, delegating effectively and finding the right mentor.

“I really enjoyed each speaker and their intentional answers as the atmosphere was open and honest,” said Paula Barial, designer, Engineering. “I liked the concept of different departmental leadership and that all managers were in different seasons of their career.

The panelists tackled topics like managing different personalities, celebrating wins with your team and handling productive, yet crucial conversations.

Whether you’re in a management role or an aspiring leader, the session was relevant to everyone in the shipyard.

“Good leaders, regardless of age and experience, know their people, their process, and how to succeed as one team,” said Darla Baria, facilities engineer.Receiving advice and guidance from such exceptional leaders gives me great confidence in the foundation I’m building on my leadership journey.
