After Hurricane Katrina made landfall on August 29, 2005, Ingalls shipbuilders stepped up for one another and for the U.S. Navy.
As the Mississippi Gulf Coast began to recover, shipbuilders worked together to restore the shipyard while many were also facing damage and loss at home.
The recovery did not end in the days and weeks that followed. Shipbuilders continued the work of rebuilding, helping restore Ingalls and move critical ships forward.
Today, Ingalls is stronger and continues to grow, shaped in part by the lessons and experiences of Hurricane Katrina. The bonds formed during that difficult time remain, as does the resilience that carried the shipyard through.
Twenty-one years later, that same resilience still drives us. We take care of each other, work through the challenges and keep building the ships the Navy needs.
