Ingalls employee resource group CODE volunteered at the Moss Point Back to School Rally by distributing 400 packs of paper to students—a contribution that directly supports local families in the community. CODE’s involvement ensured students received essential materials, giving them a stronger, more confident start to the school year.
“Being able to support my favorite volunteer event in my hometown for the district that raised me means so much,” said Ky’Ara Davis, shipbuilder concierge lead. “Knowing that the company is dedicated to giving back in this way makes it feel like the perfect connection and full-circle moment that I’m truly grateful for.”
“Volunteering to hand out school supplies reminded me how small acts of kindness can make a big difference,” said Melissa Keeton, boat foreman. “I’m grateful to work for a company that values giving back to the community.”
“Seeing the smiles and the community impact melted my heart,” said Shawana McArthur, ship superintendent. “The parents and children of all ages expressing their gratitude for the simplest act of kindness went a long way. I am very proud to have been a part of this memorable event.”
CODE, which stands for Connecting Organizations, Developing Engineers, focuses on a collaborative network of STEM professionals in various departments across Ingalls. This includes promoting STEM careers for college students and schoolchildren of all ages.
