Christening the future USS George M. Neal (DDG 131) was a huge success thanks to the Ingalls Champions! Over 50 shipbuilders volunteered their time in a variety of roles including bus captains, greeters and more, helping create an unforgettable event for guests!
Bria Wallace, Supply Chain Management, expressed, "This Christening means so much to me because my mom's a Navy veteran, and this ship gives homage to the people who have sacrificed a lot. Volunteering is my way of giving back to people who tirelessly sacrifice their lives for a cause greater than themselves."
Ingalls Champions is a volunteer program which gives you the opportunity to support special events and create memorable experiences. Volunteers will get a “behind the scenes” experience of these events, giving them an opportunity to network with other shipbuilders. This is a collective effort to shine a light on the hard work our shipbuilders do each day.
“Volunteering at Ingalls and ship christenings is important because it helps show our pride in the ships we build and supports our guests and community,” said Kay C. Jamison, manager, Engineering. “Volunteers make these events run smoothly and help represent the hard work and teamwork of everyone at Ingalls. Their support strengthens our company culture and helps continue our long shipbuilding tradition.”
