This Fourth of July, we celebrate the independence of the United States and the people who have defended it since the birth of our nation. As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, it is worth remembering that freedom has never been free. It has always depended on Americans willing to serve, build and sacrifice for something larger than themselves.
At Ingalls, that commitment shows up in the work you do each day and in the ships we deliver. For nearly 90 years, Ingalls shipbuilders have strengthened the fleet and supported the warfighter. The ships we deliver carry Sailors and Marines – including your children, your loved ones, your friends and your neighbors – into uncertain waters and bring them back home safely. That responsibility is real, and it is shared by every person in this yard.
We are part of a long line of American shipbuilders who helped shape the U.S. fleet into what it is today. But that history is not behind us. It is still being written on the waterfront, in the shops and on the ships under construction right now.

What you do, why you do it and who you do it for are more important now than ever before. Thank you for the pride and the purpose you bring to this work.
