I am pleased to announce that Johnny Pope has been promoted to Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) at Ingalls Shipbuilding.
In this role, Johnny will lead the division’s EHS and fire prevention organizations, ensuring regulatory compliance while advancing programs that protect our people, facilities and operations. He will provide strategic direction for environmental stewardship, occupational safety and emergency preparedness in support of Ingalls’ mission.
Johnny brings nearly four decades of shipbuilding experience to this position. For the past 25 years, he has served as Occupational Safety & Health Manager, leading comprehensive safety efforts across the shipyard. He began his career as a boilermaker apprentice, graduating from the Ingalls Apprentice School in 1990. He has since held roles of increasing responsibility in shipfitting management, quality control, occupational safety, fire prevention training, crane and rigging safety, and EHS management.
Throughout his career, Johnny has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to safety, continuous improvement and operational excellence. His leadership has driven significant improvements in workplace safety performance and has served to strengthen safety culture across the company. Just as importantly, he has invested in mentoring and developing others, helping prepare the next generation of leaders who will carry our safety culture and mission forward. He is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Please join me in congratulating Johnny and supporting him as he transitions into this important leadership role.
