Shipbuilders in Business Management left the new hire meet-and-greet feeling inspired and connected. This event gave shipbuilders new to Ingalls face time with leadership, as well as access to numerous resources and opportunities to network.

I am a 24-year shipbuilder who came to Business Management in March, and I believe this is the first new hire event I have ever attended,” said Brian Howell, manager, Business Management. “This was a great idea and a great way to make people feel welcomed.

Shipbuilders were also greeted by Vice President of Business Management & Chief Financial Officer Keith Munn and enjoyed a panel discussion with business leaders offering career advice, pathways to success and a push for mentorship.

“As someone joining the company during a career transition, I appreciated the efforts of the leadership team being present and engaged for the event,” said Amy Bain, business process analyst. “Their active participation reflects their dedication to new hire’s success in the department.

“Having the leadership team available to answer questions and share their own personal experiences and perspectives within the company was very helpful,” said Brian. “This discussion allowed new shipbuilders to see exactly how relatable our leaders are.”

The meet-and-greet event also provided an opportunity for shipbuilders to get a refresher on company benefits. Resources like QuadMed, HERO, career counseling and the Shipbuilder Concierge Team were available for support.

Having our HR&A team and other resources present was a good way to become more familiar with the benefits afforded to shipbuilders,” said Amy. The interactive opportunities to network among peers and management allow new hires to have a sense of community and belonging in the organization.
