In a season meant for giving, Moss Point Backpack Buddies and Ingalls shipbuilders are meeting the growing need for food security.
Volunteers packed more than 50 bags of food at Kreole Elementary to help support children in need during the Thanksgiving holiday when they are out of school.
“No child should have to worry about basic necessities such as food,” said Jasmine Adams, administrative generalist. “There is so much going on in the world right now that volunteering for an event like this is a small way to spread happiness.”
The Moss Point School District Staff are extremely grateful for the shipbuilders who volunteered their time. For many volunteers, the mission to fight hunger hits close to home.
“I chose to volunteer because I have a 1-year-old daughter who will one day be in elementary school,” said Sunny Rasavong, electrical engineer. “As a parent, this resonates with me, and I don’t want any child to go home without food to eat.”
