In honor of Veterans Day, shipbuilders found powerful ways to appreciate the courage, sacrifice and service of those who’ve given so much to protect our nation.
The Veterans Employee Resource Team (VERT) hosted a panel discussion featuring shipbuilders who have served in the military as they connected their experiences to why it’s critical for shipbuilders to always do what is right for the warfighter.
The panel included:
Jennifer Childs, vice president, Quality & Engineering & U.S. Navy veteran - 12 years of service and 18 years at Ingalls
Tony Taylor, director, Operations & U.S. Army National Guard veteran - 26 years of service and 40 years at Ingalls
Todd Young, foreman, Operations & U.S. Army veteran - 6 years of service and 12 years at Ingalls
“This event was a reminder of why we show up to work every day: to help build the ships they rely on to return home to their families,” said Leigha Malone, manager, Contracts Administration. “I’m humbled and grateful to be part of the effort that keeps warfighters ready and safe.”
“After 24 years in the Navy, I am very honored to be able to continue serving our military here at Ingalls,” said Susan Rich, contracts administrator. “As I drive into work every day and see the ships we are building, it makes me proud.”
