THE BIG PICTURE: USS New York (LPD 21) and USS Ross (DDG 71), both built by Ingalls, are among several U.S. and allied warships participating in Atlantic Alliance 2025 (AA25), the Navy’s premier East Coast integration exercise.

  • Spans from North Carolina to Maine
  • Includes more than 25 U.S. Navy and Marine Corps units operating alongside Dutch naval forces and British Royal Commandos.

  • USS Ross (DDG 71): Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer built at Ingalls
    • Construction began 1995 | Commissioned 1997
    • Final Flight I variant, marking the end of an early-generation lineage in U.S. Navy destroyers
    • Supported 9/11 response
  • USS New York (LPD 21): San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock built at Ingalls’ Avondale shipyard
    • One of three 9/11 tribute ships built by HII shipbuilders
  • Includes 7.5 tons of World Trade Center steel
  • First LPD fully designed using CAD (computer-aided design) instead of traditional blueprints, allowing for more precision and efficiency in design and construction
  • Built specifically to support Landing Craft Air Cushions (LCAC) and MC-22 Osprey aircraft
