Mississippi educators learn about Ingalls through externship

To better educate the next generation of shipbuilders, teachers from across Mississippi recently immersed themselves in the shipbuilding environment through the Ingalls Educator Externship program facilitated by the Human Resources & Administration team.

This two-week program is designed to give educators a view of Ingalls Shipbuilding and the important work our shipbuilders do each day. This summer, 23 local educators participated in the program and learned directly from shipbuilders in various departments via tours, hands-on activities and more.

At the end of the program, each extern completed a capstone project and presented it to Ingalls leadership. The capstone project gives educators the ability to demonstrate in creative and unique ways what they learned through the process and how that knowledge will be implemented in their classrooms.
