On Saturday, November 4, 2023, Ingalls Shipbuilding is hosting Family Day in celebration of service and to showcase to our loved ones the day-to-day grind of a shipbuilder! With lots of exciting activities planned, there will be something for everyone to enjoy as guests learn about Ingalls and its 85-year history of building ships that protect our nation.

Who can attend?
Current HII and active Ingalls shipbuilders, our local customers and Ingalls-badges contractors are invited to attend with up to five guests. Guests must be a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States. First and last names of all guests must be included on the registration form and legal ID must be presented for all party members at check-in. Copies of IDs/green cards (including virtual copies) will not be accepted.
Is registration required?
Yes, registration is required. It’s important that you and your families experience the best day possible, and registration helps with safety, security and planning.
What do I need to enter?
HII and Ingalls shipbuilders, our local customers and Ingalls-badged contractors must complete registration and present their active Ingalls-issued ID badge. Guests must present a valid form of a government-issued ID for entry (driver’s license or permanent residency card/green card). Copies of IDs/green cards (including virtual copies) will not be accepted. We expect a large number of shipbuilders to attend and ask that you please have all documents ready. Please be patient and prepared for lines as we ensure your security and safety.
What attire can/cannot be worn?
The shipyard is an active production area and your safety is essential! Therefore, all guests must wear closed-toe shoes. Flip flops or other open-toed sandals/shoes will not be allowed inside the shipyard or on the ship. For your safety on the ship tour of LPD 29, skirts/dresses are not allowed.
What activities can I expect to see on Family Day?
There will be hands-on exhibits and simulations highlighting the work you, our shipbuilders, do each day. Guests who meet the safety criteria, are invited to take a tour of Richard M. McCool Jr. (LPD 29). Attendees will enjoy a free Chick-fil-a lunch, pizza, popcorn and more! Everyone will receive one free Ingalls milestone t-shirt, and each family will take home a special 85th anniversary commemorative poster. All guests will be able to vote in the 2023 Holiday Card Contest and the winning entry will be featured on the 2023 Ingalls holiday card. All entries will be featured as holiday decor around the shipyard throughout the month of December.
Can I show my family my workspace?
All employees and their guests must remain in the approved event and tour areas. Access to areas beyond the event route is strictly prohibited.
Can everyone participate in the LPD 29 ship tour?
For your safety, anyone under 42” tall will not be allowed to tour the ship. Wheelchairs and strollers are not permitted on the ship due to stairs. The ship tour is not recommended for those who have knee or hip problems, heart or lung conditions, or other mobility issues.
Can I take photos with my family?
Personal photography is strictly prohibited inside the shipyard and on the LPD 29 ship. Selfie stations will be available and photos are only allowed in these clearly marked and designated areas.
Are children of all ages able to attend?
Family members of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please note, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Additionally, all guests must be escorted at all times by the shipbuilder they are attending with.
What additional security measures and/or restrictions are in place?
For the safety of our shipyard family and guests, no firearms, weapons, animals, drugs or alcohol are allowed on company property at any time. All bags and strollers will be checked by security prior to entering the shipyard. No motorized scooters are permitted in the shipyard, however, access to a limited number of wheelchairs will be available for those who require assistance.
Do I need to bring money to Family Day?
Lunch and activities will be available at no cost. Items through Anchor Apparel will be for sale by using credit cards or shipbuilder badges. Designated ships will have stores with items to purchase using CASH ONLY.
Where do I park when I arrive?
Attendees will park south of the Human Resources building. Signs and parking attendants will be available to help direct you.
Where do I go after I park?
After parking, guests will enter gate 4 to check in. From there, guests will walk down through the approved area of the shipyard and engage in a variety of activities.
What happens if there is inclement weather?
Family Day will be held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, updates will be posted to the IngallsConnect App and HII social media channels.

How do I register to attend?
Select the time you would like to attend below. Submit the form to register. In order to complete registration, all forms must contain the full names of all guests in your party.
In order to avoid long lines and create the best experience for all our guests, entry will not be permitted before reservation time. To enter the event, you MUST present at check-in: (1) confirmation of registration email, and (2) a valid ID (Ingalls-issued badge and driver’s license/lawful permanent residency card).

¿Todos pueden participar en el recorrido en barco LPD 29?
Por su seguridad, cualquier persona que mida menos de 42” de altura no se le permitirá recorrer el barco. No se permiten sillas de ruedas ni cochecitos en el barco debido a las escaleras. El recorrido en el barco no se recomienda para quienes tengan problemas de rodilla o cadera, afecciones cardíacas o pulmonares u otros problemas de movilidad.
¿Puedo tomar fotos con mi familia?
La fotografía personal está estrictamente prohibida dentro del astillero y en el barco LPD 29. Habrá estaciones para selfies disponibles y solo se permiten fotografías en estas áreas claramente marcadas y designadas.
¿Pueden asistir niños de todas las edades?
Los familiares de todas las edades son bienvenidos y se les anima a asistir. Tenga en cuenta que los niños deben estar acompañados por un adulto en todo momento. Además, todos los invitados deberán estar acompañados en todo momento por el constructor naval con el que asistan.
¿Qué medidas de seguridad y/o restricciones adicionales existen?

¿Qué pasa si hay inclemencias del tiempo?
El Dia Familiar se llevará a cabo llueva o haga sol. En caso de mal tiempo, se publicarán actualizaciones en la aplicación Ingalls Connect y en los canales de redes sociales de HII.
