Shipbuilders have the opportunity to work with a designated career counselor to help build their future. The Ingalls Craft Career Corps is now accepting requests from shipbuilders wanting support and advice to grow their careers.

This new program provides resources and support to shipbuilders to help them develop career paths, create effective resumes and implement strong interview skills. The program is aimed at craft employees.

As manager of Career Counseling, Marla Cooper’s focus is counseling employees about career opportunities available at Ingalls and working one-on-one with shipbuilders to help ensure their success.

“Ingalls has more than 500 careers to choose from, creating a broad scope of potential career paths,” said Cooper. “By offering these services, Ingalls is harvesting opportunities for shipbuilders to grow and giving them tools to develop long-lasting careers in our shipyard.”

To maximize the success of Ingalls Craft Career Corps, shipbuilders will first fill out an intake form requesting an appointment and indicating the area(s) they are most in need of assistance: career pathing, applications, resumes, or interviews. Requests can be made for individual or group counseling, with information tailored to fit the needs of those wishing to utilize the service.

Shipbuilders are able to have up to two 30-minute sessions with the career counselor for the 2023-2024 timeframe. A charge code for the meetings will be provided to represented shipbuilders. Appointments are provided on a first come, first serve basis. A follow-up, individual touch-base via phone or email will be provided 30 days after counseling during non-chargeable time.

Ingalls offers multiple tools for shipbuilders to share ideas, network, develop skills and advance their careers, including professional development to enhance leadership skills, mentoring, engagement and network opportunities and more.

With more than 11,000 people in our workforce, we know that every shipbuilder is an integral part of our mission to build the ships for our military that are strong and safe. We are a team of individuals who are capable, flexible and diverse. You matter and you BELONG at Ingalls.
