Huntington Ingalls Industries employees, including Ingalls shipbuilders, who used paid time off, annual leave, vacation or paid personal/sick time for COVID-19-related reasons from March 15, 2020, – March 28, 2021, could be eligible for reimbursement.

As part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, HII is preparing to submit a claim for COVID-19-related leave costs, which includes hours that employees took from their individual paid leave account balances for COVID-19-related reasons.

If the government approves HII’s request, and the company receives reimbursement for leave costs it paid to employees, those employees will be eligible for reimbursement of their paid leave.

To determine if employee paid leave qualifies for reimbursement, HII has engaged private accounting firm Ernst & Young, to conduct a survey.

Visit HII’s CARES Act Survey website for info and FAQs:

What to expect:

Employees who took PTO from March 15, 2020, – March 28, 2021, should have received a letter from Ernst & Young with their login info and a unique access code.

• Ernst & Young will mail instructions on how to access and complete the survey to employees’ address on file.

• If an employee elects to not participate, they will not be eligible for reimbursement.

• Employees who took PTO related to COVID-19 during the time period above and can provide the required documentation, may be eligible for reimbursement.

• NOTE: Certain types of leave are ineligible for reimbursement.*

• Documentation may require research, so start soon.

• All surveys must be completed by June 20.

* Please note, this does not apply to short-term disability payments, quarantine pay, special COVID-19 sick time or sick leave covered by the Family First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA).
