Apply to serve as an internal volunteer for a Damage Control temporary position for upcoming sea trials. Applications will be accepted through May 14.
Position description:
- Prepare the ship for sea.
- Verify portable fire extinguishers, firehoses and flood prevention gear is loaded onboard the ship.
- Support firefighting, flood prevention and helicopter operations while on Sea Trial.
Preferred qualifications:
- Prior Military training in firefighting and/or damage control preferred.
- Volunteer firefighting may be used in lieu of Military training.
Required qualifications:
- Current employee of Ingalls Shipbuilding
- No more than 2 instances of disciplinary action/attendance issues.
- Must pass an annual physical conducted by Ingalls medical team.
- Must be able to complete a 51 hour USCG approved firefighting course.
- Must be willing to work extended, unscheduled, Holiday and weekend hours for multiple days while underway.
- Must be willing to get underway on Sea Trial and Hurricane avoidance if asked.
- Must have solid work ethic.
