Carpenter Jonathan Taite, left, receives an Ethics On-The-Spot Award from Herb Mullen, superintendent, Manufacturing Services.
Carpenter Jonathan Taite did the right thing when nobody was watching, and it earned him recognition in his department.
Taite was installing sound-dampening tiles in the engine room of Delbert D. Black (DDG 119), when he discovered damaged paint where he was to apply the tiles. He quickly alerted his management, who took action to repair the damage.
"Although his decision caused a delay in his personal progress that day, Taite’s choice saved our reputation and the quality and integrity of the ship," said Herb Mullen, superintendent, Manufacturing Services.
