For more than 25 years, Scott Weldon, Vice President of Supply Chain Management, has helped shape the future of Ingalls. With his retirement set for January, he joins us on the latest episode of Inside Ingalls to reflect on the legacy he’s handing off and the future he believes in.
As a third-generation shipbuilder, Scott has spent his career focused on one simple goal: making sure Ingalls has the work and supplies needed that shipbuilders and their families count on.
“It wasn’t about the money. It was about gaining work for our shipbuilders so no one had to go home and tell their family they’d been laid off,” he said.
From new technology to stronger corporate stewardship, Scott shares his perspective on how Ingalls has grown over the last three decades and offers advice grounded in experience.
“Come in, focus on the job you have, become the subject matter expert of the job you have so that there is no one better than you at that job,” he said.
