Congratulations to Bennett, the 8-year-old son of shipfitter Jeremy Gill, on being selected as our 2025 Holiday Card Contest winner with a design that captures both the spirit of the season and the pride of shipbuilding.
The third grader’s artwork featured Shipbuilder Santa hard at work welding Harrisburg (LPD 30), ensuring the ship is safe during the holidays and year-round for those who will one day serve aboard it.
“Santa is my favorite part of the drawing because he’s making sure the ship is strong,” said Bennett.
“His excitement when he found out he won was contagious. He’s so proud to know that something he created will be shared in thousands of homes, spreading holiday cheer far and wide,” said Jeremy.
Inspired to Create
Jeremy encouraged Bennett to enter the contest, showing the young artist winning creations from previous years.
Sitting at his art desk surrounded by paints, markers, crayons and more, Bennett got to work, spending the next several weeks perfecting two different designs to enter, both of which made the Top 10.
About the Artist
“Bennett has such a sweet, kind spirit,” Jeremy said. “He’s truly full of life and wonder. He makes the most of every single day and has a big imagination that inspires everyone around him.”
In addition to art, Bennett also enjoys playing soccer, swimming, family vacations and the family’s golden doodle Scarlet. He dreams of becoming a lawyer one day but for now, he’s proud to know that something he created will help spread joy this holiday season.
Celebrating All Our Young Artists
Thank you to everyone who submitted artwork for this year's contest and to the shipbuilders who encouraged them. Look for all of the designs along Jerry St. Pe' Highway this holiday season.
