Shipbuilders are helping spread joy this holiday to active-duty troops, volunteering their time to assemble 1,000 care packages. The event was held in partnership with the United Service Organizations (USO) to show support for those serving over the holiday season.

"As a military family member and shipbuilder, it is always humbling to watch our shipbuilders come together to support the warfighter,” said Jenni Jones, chief of staff, Hull.  “Having to sacrifice time away from their family during the holidays, I am sure it will bring a smile to their faces."

The packages include handwritten messages on holiday postcards from shipbuilders. This will serve as a small token of our appreciation for what our warfighters sacrifice for our freedom.

“I volunteered for them because they volunteer for us every day,” Beth Bodden, Electrical superintendent. “They put themselves in harm's way for the citizens of this great country and I appreciate their dedication and sacrifices that they make to keep us safe.
