Important Reminder | Misinformation & Security Protocols

Last week, a suspicious device initially reported as a potential security threat was discovered in the shipyard. It was treated seriously and investigated thoroughly, and was ultimately determined to be harmless. Since this incident, widespread misinformation has circulated internally and on social media platforms. Sharing speculation, especially about safety, is irresponsible. Given today’s evolving global security landscape, the safety of our shipbuilders, naval assets, our facilities and protecting the integrity and reputation of Ingalls Shipbuilding is more important than ever.

Sharing inaccurate or unverified information, particularly in public forums, can have serious consequences. Misinformation can:
  • Cause confusion and concern among shipbuilders, families and the broader community
  • Undermine public confidence in our ability to secure sensitive operations
  • Attract attention from adversaries or bad actors who closely monitor open-source and social channels
  • Disrupt operations by spreading false narratives before facts are confirmed
In a national defense environment, information security is mission-critical, and that includes what we post, text or share online.

Additionally, please remember that photography is strictly prohibited unless you are authorized, possess a valid camera pass and have received approval through the PCR process. Any violation of this policy will be taken seriously and addressed accordingly.

Above all, your safety remains our top priority. Any threat, whether against our people or our workplace, will be acted upon immediately. If you observe anything suspicious, report it right away by calling ext. 6101.

Around the world, global threats continue to grow and the ships we build are essential to protecting freedom, deterring conflicts and ensuring national security. That makes the work you do more important than ever. Every one of us plays a role in protecting our people, our work and our mission. Thank you for your continued vigilance and commitment to keeping our shipyard and our mission secure.
