Building high-quality ships requires exceptional teamwork and a dedication to supporting the warfighter by building safe, reliable vessels. This often involves collaborating with vendors and the supply chain to ensure projects stay on track. Whitney Migues, subcontracts administrator, Supply Chain Management, and Crystal Walton, integration manager, DDG Program, excel in this critical role.

Together, they work with a cross-functional team that includes Program Management, Central Planning, Supply Chain, Quality & Engineering, and Operations, to drive the success of Ingalls' organizational goals. Both Whitney and Crystal emphasize the importance of collaboration in achieving quality execution.

Whitney believes fostering strong professional relationships and open communication are key to success. “Shipbuilding is a monumental collaborative effort and being able to reach out to experts across the shipyard has been crucial to our success,” said Whitney.

"Each day I push myself to grow," said Crystal. "The knowledge I’ve gained will be something I look back on with pride."

For Crystal, her leadership style focuses on trust and accountability, empowering her team to grow while maintaining high standards. Whitney emphasizes recognizing the ideas of others, which fosters empowerment.

Beyond technical expertise, both shipbuilders excel at maintaining a positive work environment, celebrating both small and large successes.

“Celebrating every inspection, status update and delivery instills confidence,” said Whitney.

Crystal agrees, adding: “When the team understands the ‘why,’ it keeps everyone focused and driven.”

Charles LaRue, director, Quality, commends their teamwork, noting their willingness to help beyond their responsibilities.

“They set an example for all of us through their effectiveness and dedication,” said Charles.

Crystal and Whitney lead with integrity, drive and a commitment to both their team and the company’s success.
