Sara Tuite, procurement planning control representative in Supply Chain Management (SCM), is deeply rooted in the principle of first-time quality. One of her main responsibilities is serving as SCM’s lead advocate for the Quality Management System (QMS), where she validates the accuracy of over 250 departmental documents.
“Quality is embedded within me,” said Sara. “I fully understand the importance of quality, prompt task completion and accuracy of the completed product.”
Constantly working to understand departmental processes, Sara consistently offers improvements or suggestions to enhance the process or offer more clarity if necessary.
“Sara is always willing to support or assist in any task that is required,” said Angela Green, manager, Procurement Planning Control. ”SCM Compliance is lucky to have such a highly engaged and valuable team member.”
Sara also assists various departments by verifying the accuracy of quality forms. Her efforts contribute to ensuring that suppliers are approved to conduct business with HII. She even reduced the process turnaround time from seven days to less than half a day.
Thanks to Sara’s team-building and problem-solving capabilities, the number of purchase order delays has been reduced, enabling the timely delivery of materials.
“To me, quality is providing the best product the first time around,” said Sara. “Quality produces reliability and efficiency, and I strive every day to do my absolute best not only in the work place but at home, as well. It fulfills me knowing my fellow coworkers can count on me and my quality of work, so they can do their job. It just flows down and ultimately, ends up with a happy customer.”
Thank you, Sara, for truly exemplifying the mantra “Quality Matters!”
