The holiday season is upon us! We hope you have a restful break that allows you to re-energize and return to work in 2025 ready to build the nation’s greatest ships.

Ingalls will shut down normal operations after December 22, 2024, until January 5, 2025. Represented shipbuilders must work five (5) regular hours on December 20, and six (6) regular hours on Monday, January 6, in order to maintain their holiday pay. Non-represented shipbuilders will work a full day as usual on December 20. Only those who have been pre-approved will be allowed to work during the shutdown.

As you prepare to rest over the break, here are some important things to remember before the holiday shutdown begins:

  • All holiday PTO requests submitted through ACCURATE must be completed by Friday, December 13, by 9 a.m. After this date, all requests for assistance will need to be made directly to Payroll. If you do not plan on using any PTO during shutdown, no action is required. PTO payments for the holiday shutdown will be paid on the paycheck dated December 19. For instructions on submitting holiday PTO, please visit the intranet here: December 3 | Holiday PTO Requests

  • Complete and accept your time records for the week ending December 22 prior to leaving for the holiday break. Salaried shipbuilders scheduled to work during the shutdown should only record the actual time they work, not PTO. Craft shipbuilders scheduled to work over the shutdown will record their time in START. During the shutdown, no action is required for shipbuilders who are not working.

  • Remove all perishable foods from your workspace and refrigerator. Power will be shut down during the break.

  • Devices that use heating coils should be turned off and unplugged while shipbuilders are out for the shutdown period, including coffee pots, microwaves, toasters and space heaters. For concerns, call Facilities at ext. 2400.

  • The No-Drive Time for Friday, December 20, will be 11-11:15 a.m. for the partial craft workday. As always, use the designated crosswalks and pay close attention to your surroundings. Never use a cell phone or text while driving or walking inside the shipyard.
