Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) recently provided overwatch from the forward-deployed amphibious landing dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20), during a Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) exercise.

Green Bay, which was built at Ingalls Shipbuilding, is part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, along with the 31st MEU, and is currently operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. U.S. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

USS Green Bay was christened in 2006 at Ingalls in and is the second Navy ship to be named for the city and bay of Green Bay, Wisconsin.
