A Message from Chris Kastner: Helping those affected by Hurricane Ian

Published 09/30/2022

Dear Team:

We are all watching the impact of Hurricane Ian in real time, and we know enough already to be sure that many, many people will need assistance in the aftermath. We cannot wait until the full toll on families and property is clear for us to act.

HII has a strong relationship with communities and businesses throughout Florida. More than 260 HII employees work in the state, including more than 60 in Tampa and the surrounding area, just north of where Ian made landfall.

To provide timely assistance, HII is donating $50,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to help provide food, shelter, supplies and comfort to the people affected by the storm. If you are able, I encourage HII employees to make donations of their own using HII’s American Red Cross “microsite”: https://www.redcross.org/donate/cm/huntingtoningalls-emp.html/. Your tax-deductible donations will provide much-needed food, shelter and supplies to those in need. Alternatively, you may choose to contribute essential supplies, or use your talents to assist in rebuilding.

At HII, our work is in service of the nation, each other, and you as an employee. We have a proud history of helping communities when they need it most. Your compassion in such times is a testament to our values and culture at HII, and I feel proud and privileged to be on your team.

Respectfully,

Chris Kastner
