THE BIG PICTURE: The America Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) — which include two ships built at Ingalls — have finished their first mission of 2025.

  • Operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet, which covers a large part of the Indo-Pacific region

BECAUSE OF YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS: Air, ground and support teams of the 31st MEU and the ARG came together as a powerful, multi-role amphibious force, showcasing how well they can work together.

  • Ingalls-built ships:
    • USS America (LHA 6) – Main ship focused on air operations
    • USS San Diego (LPD 22) – A flexible ship used to transport Marines and equipment
  • Other highlights:
    • LHA 6 and USS Rushmore (LSD 47) took part in Iron Fist 2025, an important training event
    • LPD 22 became the third U.S. Navy ship to visit Ishigaki, Japan, in the last three years, helping strengthen relationship between the two countries

HOW IT RELATES TO YOU:

    • The ship’s keel was laid in 2009 and it was christened in 2012
  • LPD 22 is a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock
    • The ship’s keel was laid in 2007 and it was christened in 2010
