Shipbuilders are making a difference in BIG ways. At Ingalls, we're committed to giving back and getting involved where it counts.

Shipbuilders at Ingalls still have the opportunity to make a big impact in Moss Point by mentoring through Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Gulf Coast.

Volunteering as a mentor is a powerful way to embody our values, support our community and sharpen our skills as leaders. By joining this program through Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Gulf Coast, you'll have the chance to make a lasting impact by guiding a child toward a brighter future.

On Wednesday, August 14, representatives from Big Brothers Big Sisters visited on-site to share information about becoming an active mentor in Moss Point.

Did you miss the opportunity to visit with a Big Brothers Big Sisters partner? Visit bbbs.tfaforms.net/4840669 for details on how to commit and begin the process of becoming a mentor.

Why should you be a mentor?

Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is not only fulfilling but also incredibly enjoyable. You have the chance to share your passions and interests with a young person who can benefit immensely from your guidance. Whether you love sports, hiking, reading or simply sharing a delicious meal, these shared experiences can make a world of difference to a child. The time you spend together could be the highlight of their week and lead to lifelong memories.

What you can expect:

  • Program Commitment: Dedicating at least one hour per week, with likelihood of multiple years (when possible) with your designated Little

  • Flexible Options: Mentor in Moss Point schools during designated hours or within Boys & Girls Clubs programs in Jackson County after school

  • Supportive Environment: You'll receive guidance from a Match Specialist and have access to resources to ensure a successful mentoring experience

  • Life-changing Impact: Through your involvement, you'll contribute to positive outcomes for a young person in need of support

To participate, you'll need:

  • A commitment to volunteer for at least one school year

  • Availability to spend at least one hour per week with your Little

  • Access to transportation

  • Completion of Big Brothers Big Sisters enrollment requirements, including background checks and training

Ready to commit to making a difference?

Your decision to volunteer with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program could positively shape not only a child's future but also your own. Together, we can drive change and create lasting impacts in our community.
