Ingalls Shipbuilding, in partnership with the Walter Anderson Museum of Art (WAMA), is giving 250 Jackson County students the opportunity to learn more about art and the environment.

Ingalls is proud to sponsor WAMA’s Wide Horizons program, which teaches eighth grade students about the connection between art and the environment. The program emphasizes the importance of the Gulf of Mexico, its landscapes and its wildlife.

Ingalls’ sponsorship will afford 250 Jackson County students the opportunity to participate in this important program, which includes the expertise of other community partners like the Pascagoula River Audubon Center and the University of Southern Mississippi’s Marine Education Center and Center for STEM Education.

This program is a celebration of the well-known passion and inspiration Walter Anderson found in nature, specifically Mississippi Gulf Coast’s waterways and byways, and so famously incorporated into his works.

WAMA is a Blue Star Museum, offering free admission to military personnel and up to five family members between Armed Forces Day (Sat, May 18, 2024) and Labor Day (Mon, Sept 3, 2024). The museum is located at 510 Washington Avenue in Ocean Springs,
