Members of the Ingalls Shipbuilding Speakers Bureau are inspiring the next generation of shipbuilders. Recently, the Speakers Bureau talked with CTE students at Long Beach High School during a work-based learning “Coffee & Careers” session. Approximately 25 juniors and seniors attended the presentation. CTE programs, in general, are helping train our future shipbuilders.

The Speakers Bureau is a company-wide program created to promote Ingalls’ Mission and Purpose and highlight the benefits and careers available at Ingalls.

Aimed at engaging the workforce and fostering a strong community connection, the Bureau prepares Ingalls shipbuilders in various roles and organizations to speak with groups of all ages.

Donna Melton, manager, Planning & Process Excellence, was one of the first members of the Speakers Bureau. In her leadership role, Donna realizes the importance of sharing her 34-year career at Ingalls Shipbuilding.

“My favorite thing about the Speakers Bureau is being able to meet people and tell them about the shipyard,” Donna said. “If you put forth the effort and take advantage of opportunities that are offered to you, you can have a very successful and rewarding career here at Ingalls.”

It’s not just building ships; it’s crafting top-of-line, powerful defenders, not only to protect our nation but to protect those who serve. Their mission IS our purpose.
