Despite the rain, Ingalls shipbuilders stepped up and showed their support for the Jackson County Heart Walk this past Saturday—proving that a little weather cannot dampen our drive to give and raise awareness for heart disease and stroke.
Together with others in our community, we helped raise $162,730 to support the American Heart Association’s mission to fight heart disease and stroke. Our Ingalls team raised over $8,000 for the cause!
One shipbuilder gave us insight into her reason for participating in the heart walk and several other volunteer events that Ingalls helps sponsor. “I volunteer because I love to serve, and I’m blessed to have the opportunity to do so, " says Lakeisa Simms, Production Planning. “I do it for my coworker and good friend, who is a stage 4 heart patient—and for everyone fighting this battle.”
