Ingalls shipbuilders joined community leaders and volunteers for the March of the Mayors food drive on February 28, working together to fight hunger along the Gulf Coast.
✅ Shipbuilders volunteered alongside hundreds of community members
✅ Over 25,000 food items were donated by surrounding Gulf Coast cities
✅ 2,500 food boxes were packed and distributed to 17 food pantries across the Gulf Coast
✅ 20,833 meals were provided for families in need
Each food box contained shelf-stable essentials like peanut butter, canned tuna, fruit and vegetables, soup, pasta, rice and beans. Weighing approximately 10 pounds per box, these meals will make a lasting impact in our communities.
"The energy at March of the Mayors was awesome. To see people in the community come together while smiling, laughing and showing gratitude for the opportunity to assist someone else reaffirmed one of the reasons that I volunteer,” said Jasmine Adams, administration generalist, Supply Chain Management. “I volunteer because I get back what I put in immediately and often my return on investment is much higher than I anticipate. Also, being there satisfied my appreciation for working together as a team. I hope to do it again next year!"
Thank you to everyone who stepped up to make a difference!
