At Ingalls Shipbuilding, we recognize that mental health and suicide prevention are important to our workforce and community. As part of our "What Matters to You?" campaign, we’re committed to supporting programs that make a difference and ensuring shipbuilders have access to critical resources.
Hope Squad: Empowering Students in Jackson County
Ingalls is proud to support Hope Squad, a peer-led suicide prevention program in schools throughout Jackson County and beyond. This initiative equips students with the tools to recognize warning signs, support their peers, and connect them with help. Recently recognized by Mississippi legislators, Hope Squad is making a lasting impact on youth, families, and the community.
Out of the Darkness Walk: Join Us in Raising Awareness
In addition to supporting Hope Squad, Ingalls Shipbuilding is a proud sponsor of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's (AFSP) Mississippi Gulf Coast Out of the Darkness Walk. This annual event brings together individuals to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention. The 2025 walk is scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, MS. We encourage all shipbuilders to participate, support the cause and stay tuned for more details on how to get involved.
Support Resources for Shipbuilders
Mental health matters, and Ingalls offers HII Employees a Reach Out Program (HERO) that finds confidential help for life’s challenges and demands. Virtual counseling, crisis consultation and emotional well-being resources for things like anxiety and depression are available to you 24/7, at no extra cost. Visit www.HIIHERO.com for more information on these programs.
At Ingalls, we are committed to fostering a workplace where shipbuilders feel supported—because mental health matters to all of us.
