Black History Month | Action, empowerment and community engagement

Published on 02/01/2023

Black history is American history and it is woven into the legacy of Ingalls Shipbuilding through the hands of thousands of shipbuilders who have helped and continue to help build our great ships.

Black History Month, which runs through the month of February, is a time to celebrate the many accomplishments of African Americans and recognize their central role in U.S. history.

While Ingalls recognizes the contributions of African Americans to our company all year long, we are proud to celebrate the richness and impact of African American culture and history to our country this Black History Month.

Let our learning lead to action, empowerment and community engagement.

For ways you can support our African American shipbuilding community, consider joining the African American Shipbuilders Association (AASA)

AASA fosters professional and career development of African American shipbuilders through its strong commitment to community service and to programs that improve education, promoting cultural awareness and diversity within communities.
