Celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Published on 01/13/2022

Ingalls celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., an advocate for diversity and inclusion who understood that everybody could be great if they were willing to serve.

The African American Shipbuilders Association (AASA) employee resource group will honor Dr. King through community engagement and service, in partnership with the MLK Coastwide Committee.

AASA is a proud sponsor of the MLK Parade and Battle of the Bands at MGM Park. Shipbuilders and their families are encouraged to attend this family-friendly celebration.

AASA will also lead a community food drop with Feeding the Gulf Coast Saturday, February 5, 11am at the Gautier Senior Center.

“In order to make an even greater impact, AASA made the decision to sponsor the MLK Coastwide Celebration this year. By partnering with the committee, we are providing opportunities for our shipbuilders and their families to celebrate the life and work of Dr. King,” said Crystal Bradley, chair of AASA. “And through our community food drop, our goal is to serve 330 families across the Gulf Coast. The potential to partner with other groups like ours to make something great even better was such a tremendous opportunity. We hope everyone will reflect on Dr. King’s vision for justice and equality and honor him on this national day of service.”
