Shipbuilders across the yard gained insight on handling pressure and uncertainty at the recent professional development series, “Leading Effectively Through Disruption.” Led by Chris Helton, director, General Manufacturing, the session focused on practical ways to stay steady, communicate clearly and maintain professionalism when the pressure is high.
“Even if I’m feeling it on the inside, not showing that stress on my face or through my emotions can help keep the team grounded,” said Alexis Moran, Environmental Health & Safety Engineer. “Learning the difference between a true crisis and just a disturbance made things feel a lot more manageable when those situations come up.”
The session sparked meaningful reflection among attendees, leaving many with fresh perspective. The conversation around keeping composure and maintaining professional boundaries was practical and timely.
“It reminded me that not every setback requires a crisis response,” said Marquitta Buxton, subcontracts administrator. “I walked away with new tools that I can immediately apply in my role and any future roles.”
This series is a partnership between the Culture Connectors Education Committee and the HR&A Leadership Development Team.
