Water bottles being given to all shipbuilders to help them stay hydrated

In an effort to encourage shipbuilders to stay hydrated, Ingalls is providing water bottles to all Operations employees.

The water bottles remind shipbuilder to hydrate regularly throughout the day with time stamps on the side of the bottle.

The bottles can be refilled at any of the 42 hydration stations located throughout the shipyard. By refilling water bottles at the hydration stations, shipbuilders have saved 342,977 single-use plastic bottles.

With temperatures continuing to rise, it’s more important than ever to make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Proper hydration and replenishing electrolytes are the keys to preventing a heat stress emergency, such as heat stroke.

Shipbuilders should drink eight ounces of water every 15-20 minutes. A bottle of Gatorade or an electrolyte packet should also be consumed at intervals throughout the day to help replenish electrolytes.
