Shipbuilders had the opportunity to sit down with leaders from Ingalls during Connect with Directs, a speed networking event hosted by the Culture Connector Networking Committee. This unique event brought shipbuilders and business leaders together for real conversations and networking, giving them a chance to meet face-to-face with coworkers and leaders from different trades, departments and experience levels—one conversation at a time.

The goal? To break down barriers, encourage collaboration, and create opportunities for learning and growth. By bringing people together in an engaging setting like this, shipbuilders were able to gain new insights into both career and personal development, as well as company operations.

“I was able to connect shipbuilders with resources on how they can grow their career,” said Brad Trumbaturi, director, General Manufacturing. “Others were fascinated when I shared my experience, especially taking a ship on trials. It was a pleasure to meet some great shipbuilders from various backgrounds and to be able to answer the great questions they asked.”

Events like Connect with Directs are part of a larger effort to strengthen the culture at Ingalls by fostering open dialogue, mutual respect and a shared sense of purpose. When shipbuilders talk, knowledge flows, paths open and the entire yard grows stronger.

For electrician Adam St. Amant, the event offered direct access to leadership and valuable advice.

“When I asked a business leader for advice on advancing your career at Ingalls, he mentioned how the opinion of your peers can have the most impact,” said Adam. “If your crew praises your work, that can go a long way.”
