With over a thousand Ingalls shipbuilders having served in the military, it's essential to recognize their contributions and thank them for defending our freedom. In honor of Veterans Day, the Veterans Employee Resource Team (VERT) distributed postcards to shipbuilders thanking Veterans and providing information about the employee resource group during lunch at CSA III, the Gate 2 Aramark Café and at Gate 4 near American Heroes Café. This was an opportunity to reflect on the principles that unite us as shipbuilders — commitment, teamwork and resilience.
“The Veterans Day mission successfully engaged with shipbuilders in the production area who are less likely to hear directly from company representatives,” said Shane Scara, product trainer, Engineering. “The members of VERT hope this exercise encourages veterans in our workforce and inspires greater ERG participation. When shipbuilders participate in ERGs, they feel a greater connection and job satisfaction, which has been proven to positively impact productivity, retention and overall business outcomes.”
