Heat stress can show up fast and sometimes in small ways. Here’s what recognizing and responding looks like on a typical day in the yard.
If someone starts slowing down or seems off:
-
Ask how they’re feeling
-
Move with them to shade or a cooler area
-
Help them take a short break and sip water
-
If a teammate mentions feeling dizzy or nauseous:
-
Stop work immediately
-
Help them cool down with airflow
-
Stay with them and call for support if symptoms don’t improve
-
Call for help immediately:
-
Call 228-935-6101 for emergency assistance
-
Small changes in behavior or energy level can be early signs of heat stress. When you act quickly and look out for each other, you help prevent serious illness and keep your crew safe.
Stay alert, speak up fast and take action if something doesn’t seem right.
