Hurricane season can change quickly. While Ingalls prepares the shipyard for severe weather, every shipbuilder should also have a plan at home.

Preparing now helps protect your family and makes it easier to respond when a storm is in the forecast.

"We spend months preparing the shipyard before a storm ever forms because we know those early actions make a differenceThe same is true at home. The more you can take care of before a storm is in the Gulf, the more confident you'll be when it's time to act,” said Justin McArthur, Facilities & Maintenance Director & Heavy Weather Lead. Hear more from Justin here.

START WITH THE BASICS

You don't have to do everything at once. Start here:

  • Review your family's emergency plan and evacuation routes

  • Restock emergency supplies, including water, food, medications and flashlights

  • Fuel your vehicles and charge portable devices

  • Protect important documents and review your insurance coverage
