Shipbuilders came together for the latest Culture Connector professional development session, as Ingalls President Brian Blanchette shared his leadership philosophy and how he approaches his role with the company.

“The professional development event was incredibly inspiring, as Mr. Blanchette’s perspective on leading with integrity and intention really resonated with me,” said Alexis Utley, project management, Human Resources & Administration (HR&A). “I left feeling motivated to apply these principles in my own role.”

Brian outlined his leadership style and what helped him craft his philosophy. He mentioned how important it is for leaders in the company to create their vision for leadership in order to have a functioning team and scope of work.

“As someone who wants a leadership role with the company, this was extremely helpful and highly motivating,” said Alfredo Diaz, designer, Engineering. I took many notes to apply in my daily life. He mentioned things that stuck with me such as delegatetrust, and be open to opportunity.

Attendees also received tools and frameworks to begin crafting their own leadership philosophiesIn partnership with HR&A’s leadership development team, Culture Connectors use these sessions to inspire and create the next leaders of the shipyard.

“Mr. Blanchette’s perspective on leadership highlighted practical tools I can continue developing throughout my career, while also reinforcing that a similar mindset is something I can strive to adopt,” Anthony Herbert, labor relations representative, Human Resources & Administration. “It made the experience feel both aspirational and genuinely relatable.”
