When shipbuilders feel connected, supported and inspired, that’s a true representation of engagement. This message was clear at the third annual Shipbuilder Engagement Day.
“Engagement Day is about coming together, celebrating our culture and enjoying the moments that make our workplace feel like a true community,” said Rachael Kiesling, project manager, Shipbuilder Engagement. Whether volunteering in the community or supporting our Shipbuilders Resource Fairs, our shipbuilders consistently show up to make a meaningful impact on our culture.”
Shipbuilders were treated to snacks to throughout the day during networking sessions things like “Donuts & Dialogue” and “Popcorn & Connections.” Engagement Day brought shipbuilders together in an engaging and collaborative setting.
“The morning networking event was a good way to connect with fellow shipbuilders,” said Philip Wilkinson, contract administrator. “I enjoyed the conversation and look forward to future events.”
Chairs and contributors of the Culture Connector Advisory Council shared highlights of the year from the education, networking, membership, service and communication committees. Employee resource groups also talked about the evolution of their programs and what’s to come in 2026.
“The event provided a wonderful opportunity to see faces I had not seen in a while and meet and engage with new people, full of knowledge, motivation, and enthusiasm,” said Barbara Watkins, payroll assistant. “As always, when I leave Engagement Day, I leave with lasting effects. I encourage others to meet me at the next one.”
